The Formation Of A Persecuting Society

I heard of this book from my course on Medieval history, during the lecture on the Crusades. I checked it on Amazon, noticed it had started a trend in medieval criticism, and ordered one of the books it inspired (Communities of Violence) - the one that seemed the most relevant to our time.

It has occurred to me that the Crusades are far from over – it has been America’s preoccupation ever since the Gulf War. When historians look back at this they will realize this was a turning point – and it represents a new low in human history similar to the original Crusades.

Our roots go back much further than I once realized – and these include the Medieval period.
