I have had many of these – hell, I have been one myself. I have been as stupid as anyone. Stupidity was bred into our genes, it seemed like.
Now, in my twilight years, I seem to have wised up – and no one cares. Which reminds, me I need to start making espresso this morning. Caffeine can make anyone feel better, even if nothing really gets better.
I’m back, ready to talk about stupid friends. These are extremely common, and it helps to know what to expect off them. You will see them doing stupid thing after stupid thing – which is normal for them and most of us – but then cap this off with a really disastrous mistake that will finish them off.
This doesn’t always happen. They may just keep muddling along making low-level mistakes forever – or they may do something unusually stupid, but one they can recover from. Or they may decide to cap off a lifetime of mistakes with a total disaster they may never recover from.
This last scenario is the one I am writing about today. When this happens, you have lost a friend, because they will terminate the friendship abruptly. Why they do this, I am not sure, but I suspect they don’t want a witness around to see how stupid they really are. They would rather just fade into the sunset – and be remembered for what they might have become, if things had worked out right for them.
