We Have Given Our Life to Our Things
People have the unique ability to make things come to life. This is our gift to the world. But we have overdone it, and no longer live for our selves – only for our things.
This would be serious enough, but we have taken this further, and have turned against our selves – as though we were some kind of deadly enemy – and are destroying ourselves.
It is as though our things, once they have absorbed our being, have decided they do not want any competition in the world – and as loyal subjects, we are eliminating that competition for them.
To put this another way – we have become loyal to them, and not to our selves. We now deny that we even exist, as special beings – only as vassals for our things. We even feel we are vastly superior this way – because our things are so much better than we are.
It’s time we backed off, took another look at where we are, and rearranged our priorities – making ourselves first. This shouldn’t be hard, after all this is where we were as a result of the Enlightenment – when the idea of Democracy became popular. All we have to do is recognize our new masters, and put them back in their rightful place – beneath us.
Can we do this? No. Because we are too far gone. I may be wrong, and I hope I am, but a new kind of people are now in control – devoted to our destruction. And most of the people are supporting them. I use the word people advisedly here, because the people, as spoken of by Abraham Lincoln, have vanished from the face of the earth. And no one has noticed.
A new kind of people has taken their place: mass man. People who identified with the new industrial technology – beginning with the Sailing Ship, that provided many new jobs for them to fill. Even those not remotely connected with this new technology – the American pioneer, acted the same way – destroying the aboriginal people they encountered. Americans still have to be killing someone, even if they have to go to Afghanistan to find them.
It is worth some time to consider jobs and their importance. Like most, I wanted to get a good job, and ended up being a modern slave in the System. I never thought of doing what I wanted to do, only what it wanted me to do. And I ended up in a modern version of Hell. I had sold my soul to the Devil, with the usual consequences.
It is worth spending some time on this modern Hell. Which doesn’t seem like Hell to most – but Heaven on earth, where things (including them) reign supreme.
Not too long ago, I would have been burned at the stake for uttering such a heresy. But now I can sit here in my pajamas, typing away, secure in the knowledge that no one is listening to me – and if they are, they don’t understand me – and don’t want to.
It worth some time considering the religious implications of where we are. The religion, of course, is Christianity. And the basic symbol is Christ sacrificing his life to save his people. The modern version of this has the people sacrificing themselves to serve their things – the modern version of the Golden Calf in the Old Testament.
It is worth reflecting that we have never been very bright when we were dealing with the basics. We now have a technology that is awesome, operated by people who are moral pygmies.
