Needless to say, there is a big difference.
I worked in the Computer Industry for 20 years, in the Eighties and Nineties – and only met the bad kind. And they were not just bad – they were bad, bad – and liked to be that way. They blew trillions of dollars and helped create the depressed economy we have today.
After I left Silicon Valley and moved to rural Costa Rica – I have discovered the good kind – that want to make the Computer (especially Software) better. They are going good work, and I don’t mind joining them – even if keeping up with them is a challenge for my old brain.
Their part of the economy is the only part that is working. But that may not be enough to save it.
