Insanity fascinates me – at least when viewed from distance. But having lived through the insanity of a beloved wife – and later, her suicide – I know how tiring and distressing it can be.
This is best shown in the second book of the series – one you may have heard of – A Beautiful Mind – where the wife devotes her life to the care of her insane husband and son. The husband eventually recovers, and gets a Nobel Prize as a physicist.
I cannot help but compare this with the fate of Nietzsche – who got no medical care at all. Medical Science is a science, and one we can be grateful for.
It’s a long article – give yourself plenty of time to read it.
