Mental Illness is Harder on Other People

The people directly affected by it are usually not aware of it – and do not suffer from it. But other people, especially those closest to them, do suffer.

I am in this situation now, suffering from diarrhea at one o’clock in the morning. While the person who gave this to me, snores on – with the dogs he loves more than anything else.

I can remember my beautiful, but crazy wife – who told me the same thing happened in her childhood, when her father died. Her mother went crazy, and never recovered from it. Although she usually managed to cover it up – and seemed the most wonderful person imaginable.

Beware of such people – if they are too good to be true, they usually aren’t.
