Mary Astor’s Purple Diary: The Great American Sex Scandal of 1936
This biography is trashy – but is copiously illustrated – in a satirical style. I couldn’t put the damn thing down, It’s well-worth the $13 I paid for it.
The last drawing, however left me baffled. It shows Mary laid to rest in a cemetery – in the nude, with the face and breasts of a young woman. If this has some deeper philosophical meaning – I missed it.
